Voxel-based morphometry (VBM)
To assess degenerative changes in cortical and subcortical regions over time we will apply voxel-based morphometry (VBM) (Ashburner et al., 2003), voxel based cortical thickness (VBCT) and voxel-based quantification (VBQ) of magnetization transfer (MT), longitudinal relaxation rate (R1=1/T1) and R2* relaxation parameters (Draganski et al., 2011; Helms et al., 2009; Weiskopf et al., 2011) in the framework of statistical parametric mapping (SPM) (http://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/spm) at four different time points within the first year post injury.

Pain and Depression in SCI patients
Pain is one of the most demoralising problems following spinal cord injury (SCI) and a challenging issue for researchers and clinicians. The prevalence rate is of about 69% and one third rate their pain as severe. Over the last several years the problem of pain following spinal cord injury (SCI) has received increasing attention.

Lokomat Gait Train 3D
The aim of this project is to modify the Lokomat robot, so that patients can also train balance during walking.

Arm Rehabilitation
These assessment methods are expected to improve intra and inter-patient comparisons and it will be tested to which extend they correlate with clinical scales.
